The Lesson
From the very first lesson, students are encouraged to think, listen, and engage with their instrument as musicians. I pride myself on being a friendly, enthusiastic, and passionate teacher, bringing energy and enjoyment to every lesson.
I encourage students to take pride in their progress, develop independent practice habits, and explore a wide range of musical styles. Lessons cover all aspects of musicianship, including improvisation, reading music, playing by ear, using chord charts, and composition.
Over the years, I’ve helped students achieve a variety of milestones—from writing their first song at 75 to performing in their first school showcase at just 5 years old. My goal is simple: to help every student enjoy the process of learning, build confidence, and stay inspired by the rewarding journey of making music.

The Method
Students build a personalised repertoire of six songs they genuinely love, with no genre off limits—from pop and jazz to classical and contemporary. Alongside learning their chosen music, they develop instrument-specific technique and practical music theory.
Every three months, we record their six-song setlist to track progress before selecting a new repertoire that reflects their growing skills and confidence.
This approach keeps learning engaging, encourages self-reflection, and gives students a tangible record of their musical journey. For those pursuing grades, I teach both ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses and maintain a 100% pass rate.
